Xstrata signs deal with Peru for $4.2 bln mine
On Thursday, Anglo-Swiss miner Xstrata (LON:XTA) signed a deal with Peru’s government on Thursday that will let it start building its Las Bambas copper mine.
The press release is quoted as saying:
The company says Las Bambas will be a world-class copper mine with initial production of 400,000 tonnes a year of copper in concentrate, including significant gold, silver and molybdenum by-products. Its initial mine life is forecast at 18 years.
